Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Zhan Dhelan (ranked 3805 p4p, 183 weight class) and Brian Marais (ranked 4613 p4p, 219 weight class). Marais is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Offspring - Come Out And Play. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 3 losses; Zhan Dhelan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 4 losses; Brian Marais!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, John Mangel and Skip Squint.

Marais is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dhelan's half guard.

Dhelan gets full guard.

Dhelan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marais doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marais manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Marais wants to control from the top but Dhelan keeps moving.

Dhelan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dhelan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Marais's guard.

Marais is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Marais is trying to keep Dhelan in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marais keeping full guard, as Dhelan tries to pass.
Dhelan is working hard here to advance position.
Dhelan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marais's guard.
Marais felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Marais is trying to control but can't.
Marais is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've been hearing good reports from Dhelan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Dhelan is working for a kimura but Marais is defending it quite comfortably.

Dhelan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Marais has managed to free his arm - good work.
Marais is looking for a sweep. Dhelan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Marais has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dhelan is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dhelan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Marais tries to get to full guard but Dhelan has control of the leg.
Marais wants to control but Dhelan is keeping busy.
Dhelan is keen to just control but Marais is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marais trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Dhelan manages to pass to mount!

Dhelan wants to take Marais's back here but Marais is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Marais working to try and regain half guard.

Dhelan working for a guillotine from mount but Marais is in no mood to give up.
Marais has given up his back here.

Marais is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Dhelan has his arm under Marais's chin here. Game over son! Dhelan squeezes tightly and Marais is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Zhan Dhelan!
A very excited looking Zhan Dhelan rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
The defeated Brian Marais had this to say: 'Not to get too technical, but according to chemistry, alcohol is a solution.'.
