PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Beltran (ranked 2266 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baka Vizsla (ranked 6795 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Vizsla's choice of entrance music: Bodak Yellow by Cardi B.. Carlos Beltran could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Baka Vizsla's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Beltran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Baka Vizsla!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beltran fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Vizsla to the ground. Beltran is now in Vizsla's guard.
Vizsla is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beltran is controlling him.
Vizsla is looking to stand back up but Beltran counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vizsla.
Beltran slows the pace down in half guard.

Beltran is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vizsla doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beltran.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beltran is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vizsla is trying to stand.
Beltran has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Beltran lands a nice shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beltran is landing with some decent strikes but Vizsla is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Vizsla looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Beltran sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Beltran is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Vizsla is trying to stand.
Vizsla regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beltran decides to stand up.

Beltran moves into the clinch successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Beltran has hold of one of Vizsla's legs. Vizsla is fighting the takedown attempt but Beltran gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Vizsla has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Beltran off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Baka Vizsla is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Beltran throws a leg kick which misses Vizsla's front leg but catches the back leg as Vizsla tries to avoid it.

Beltran drives through with a takedown into Vizsla's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Vizsla is looking to stand back up but Beltran counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vizsla.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Beltran is looking for a kimura but Vizsla is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Beltran to get the leverage.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beltran in particular looking to stall.
Beltran wants to free his trapped foot but Vizsla is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beltran passes the guard and advances to mount!
Beltran connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Beltran breaks from Vizsla's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beltran tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Beltran landing strikes, looking to finish!


Vizsla is rocked!
Beltran connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Beltran dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Vizsla is still on wobbly legs! Can Beltran finish him?

Vizsla pulls guard successfully.
Beltran is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Vizsla seems to have recovered his senses.
Beltran in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Beltran forces his way into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vizsla wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Beltran not doing much here.
Beltran looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vizsla with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vizsla is in trouble now - Beltran has advanced to mount!
Beltran controlling the position easily from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Beltran working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Beltran controlling the pace for now.
Beltran lands a nice shot to the head.
Beltran tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The referee warns Vizsla that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Beltran pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big strike lands for Beltran! That's really hurt Vizsla and he's turned his back - Beltran keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Beltran jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Beltran!
Carlos Beltran decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
The defeated Baka Vizsla had this to say: 'I'm coming back with vengeance!'.
