PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Micky Brit (ranked 5737 p4p, 535 weight class) and Flip Fortuin (ranked 6125 p4p, 549 weight class). Fortuin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: You shook me all night long. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Micky Brit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Flip Fortuin!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fortuin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Brit.
Brit uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fortuin.
Brit lands with a nice body kick.
Brit throws a jab when Fortuin was well out of range.
Brit drops his hands momentarily and Fortuin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Nice straight punches there by Brit. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Brit.

Fortuin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Fortuin stalling against the ropes.
Fortuin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Fortuin receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Brit lands a body shot in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fortuin manages to break the clinch.
Fortuin wants to clinch but Brit slips to the side
and Brit counters with a nice kick to the body.
Fortuin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Brit thumps Fortuin with a low kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Brit is looking to chop away at Fortuin's legs.
Fortuin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Brit misses with a jab to the body
and Fortuin counters with a stiff right hand.

Fortuin listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Nice uppercut lands for Fortuin. That snapped Brit's head back.

Brit definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Fortuin looks to land a combination but Brit avoids it well.
Brit feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Brit takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Fortuin misses with a looping left.
Fortuin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fortuin's coach down at Temp Spar Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Fortuin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Brit tries to land a leg kick but Fortuin saw it coming and moves away.
Brit throws a head kick that misses.
Brit moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromFortuin.
Fortuin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It looked like Brit was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Fortuin.
Brit tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fortuin was well out of range. Poor timing from Brit.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Fortuin checks a leg kick.
Brit cracks the inside of Fortuin's front leg.

Fortuin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brit scores with a shoulder strike.
Brit lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Fortuin content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Brit blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Fortuin wants to stall.

Fortuin tries to throw a body punch but Brit avoids it by throwing Fortuin back against the ropes.

Fortuin is trying to maintain a safe position but Brit gets an underhook and turns Fortuin into the ropes.

Brit tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Fortuin scores with a decent looking hook.

and Brit counters with a nice leg kick.
Brit really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fortuin drives through and clinches with Brit against the ropes.

Fortuin is struggling to control the position.
Fortuin lands a body shot.
Fortuin tries to work over Brit's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Fortuin blocking some punches.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Brit.

Fortuin lands a hook that snaps the head of Brit backwards.
Fortuin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

Fortuin tries to stall but Brit uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Brit lands a body punch in the clinch.
Brit has a couple of punches blocked by Fortuin.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Brit.
Fortuin blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fortuin trying to control the position but instead, Brit has worked for underhooks and has pushed Fortuin into the ropes.
Brit throws a punch but it's blocked by Fortuin.

A bit of stalling here from Fortuin.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Flip Fortuin.
Brit scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Brit cracks the inside of Fortuin's front leg.
Decent striking displayed by Fortuin there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Flip Fortuin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Brit tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Brit takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


Brit is rocked!
Brit walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Fortuin! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Flip Fortuin!
Flip Fortuin bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
