Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tom Harper (ranked 1469 p4p, 193 weight class) and Didi Hamman (ranked 2436 p4p, 299 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Harper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Didi Hamman!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harper shoots in looking for a takedown. Hamman tries to sprawl out of it but Harper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hamman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Harper fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hamman sprawls well initially but Harper persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Harper connects with a nice short shot to Hamman's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harper scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hamman is looking for a sweep. Harper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Harper drops an elbow to the side of Hamman's head.
Harper lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hamman is trying to control but can't.

Harper seems to be working for a kimura but Hamman defends the submission attempt.
Harper winds up and cracks Hamman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Harper is trying to control. Hamman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hamman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Harper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hamman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harper lands a nice short elbow.
Harper is controlling the pace.
Harper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Harper connects with a nice short shot to Hamman's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hamman moves into full guard.

Hamman has his foot on Harper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Harper works his way back into a safe position though.

Harper definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Hamman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Harper is nestled in close to Hamman, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Harper is taking a breather. Hamman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Harper winds up and cracks Hamman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.


Hamman is rocked!
Harper is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Hamman is hurt! He's hurt bad - Harper fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Hamman from any more punishment! Congratulations to Harper! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Harper!
A very excited looking Tom Harper made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
