Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Big (ranked 4624 p4p, 381 weight class) and Seamus Johnson (ranked 6196 p4p, 458 weight class). The key to victory for John Big has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Big !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Seamus Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into Big 's guard.
Big is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.
Johnson pushing down on Big 's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Big regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Johnson.
Johnson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Big 's guard.

Johnson decides to return to a standing position.
Johnson throws a lazy head kick
and Big counters with a leg kick.
Big shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Big enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Big manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Big , up you get!

Big tries to sprawl but Johnson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Big looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson stands up from half guard.

Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Big was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Big is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Johnson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Big is trying to defend but Johnson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

A head kick by Johnson misses
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Big counters with a head kick. That will keep Johnson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Big is trying to pull guard but Johnson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Johnson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Big regains guard immediately.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Big tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Big to the ground. Big escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
John Big has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seamus Johnson.

Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Big , pushing him back against the cage.
Big wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.

Johnson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Big uses from the top position.

Johnson dives in for a single leg takedown but Big sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Big appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Big 's half guard.

Johnson feints and as Big raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Big is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Johnson, into his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Big fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Johnson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Johnson is taking a breather. Big says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Big lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Seamus Johnson has been cut.

Johnson forces Big back against the cage and clinches.
Big has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Johnson tries to pull guard but Big won't allow it.
John Big has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Johnson has clasped his hands together around Big 's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Big fires out a quick counter leg kick but Johnson just manages to avoid it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Seamus Johnson.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
