PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dzik Poddawacz (ranked 2972 p4p, 324 weight class) and Riley Escobar (ranked 3752 p4p, 391 weight class). Escobar has chosen Never Gone Get It as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poddawacz changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Escobar tries to bum rush Poddawacz with a series of wild strikes but Poddawacz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A left and a right from Escobar both land. Nice combination.

Escobar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Poddawacz tries to free his leg and advance position but Escobar is retaining full guard.
Escobar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Poddawacz manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Poddawacz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Escobar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Escobar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Poddawacz is looking for a triangle but Escobar pushes his legs off easily.

Poddawacz is looking for a sweep. Escobar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Escobar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Poddawacz has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Escobar doesn't defend quickly enough and Poddawacz has managed to lock this one up! Can Escobar escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Poddawacz on a fantastic submission victory.
