Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devin Alvis Jr (ranked 3355 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cassius James (ranked 3699 p4p, 0 weight class). Cassius James is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Devin Alvis Jr !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cassius James!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Alvis Jr or perhaps it was just good defense by James, which made it look bad.
James shoots in and drives through. Alvis Jr sprawls well.

James drives through and clinches with Alvis Jr against the cage.
Alvis Jr can't find room to land a body shot as James controls the action.
James gets underhooks to prevent Alvis Jr 's takedown attempt.

Alvis Jr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devin Alvis Jr . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alvis Jr is looking to break free of the clinch but James has double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alvis Jr jumps guard and drags James to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

James shoots in for a double leg but Alvis Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

James's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

James will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Alvis Jr up against the cage.
James changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Alvis Jr fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Alvis Jr shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alvis Jr 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Alvis Jr has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Alvis Jr there as he acknowledges the shot.
Alvis Jr tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes.

Alvis Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Alvis Jr has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes James off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alvis Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James is stalling in the full guard.

A close round but Cassius James will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

James throws a counter combo.

James feints and as Alvis Jr raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Alvis Jr is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and James dives into side control.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alvis Jr . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Alvis Jr can't do much from the bottom here.
Alvis Jr is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on James's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

James stands up and beckons Alvis Jr to join him on the feet.

James shoots in and bounces Alvis Jr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with James in particular looking to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
James drops an elbow to the side of Alvis Jr 's head.
James has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Alvis Jr can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cassius James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Alvis Jr 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


James throws a nice looking combination but Alvis Jr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
James shoots in looking for a takedown. Alvis Jr tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alvis Jr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for James. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

James wants to control but Alvis Jr is keeping him busy.

James is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alvis Jr is just riding it out for now. James eventually gives up the hold.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Alvis Jr is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Cassius James has got the better of the ground game so far.
James prevents Alvis Jr from standing back up.
Alvis Jr is looking to control James's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alvis Jr avoid being mounted?

James is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Alvis Jr !

James has control of Alvis Jr 's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Alvis Jr regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Alvis Jr wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alvis Jr is squirming around, avoiding James's attempts to control the action.

James trying to control but Alvis Jr is having none of it.

Devin Alvis Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cassius James is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cassius James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
