Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Song (ranked 3368 p4p, 0 weight class) and Splinter Yoshi (ranked 3167 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Samuel Song!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Splinter Yoshi!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Song looks for a takedown but Yoshi sprawls well.
Yoshi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Yoshi.
Song misses with a takedown
and Yoshi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Song's knee momentarily.
Yoshi lands a nice leg kick that just misses Song's sensitive parts.
Song on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Yoshi. Yoshi obviously looking to wear him down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Song shoots for a double leg takedown but Yoshi sprawls well. He's pushed Song's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Song looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yoshi is fending him off so far but Song persists. Nope, Yoshi circles away and we're back to standing.

Song closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Song is looking to take a break and control but Yoshi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Yoshi manages to get to full guard.

Yoshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Song. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Yoshi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Song in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Splinter Yoshi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Song shoots in for a double leg but Yoshi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Samuel Song seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Song tries to clinch but Yoshi moves away
and Yoshi counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Yoshi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That kick from Yoshi tenderised Song's leg. Song is trying to keep his angry face on.

Yoshi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Yoshi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Song. That did some damage!

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Yoshi circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Song drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Yoshi follows Song to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

During a confident post fight interview, Splinter Yoshi thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
