PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Rhod (ranked 900 p4p, 106 weight class) and Barnabas Ungar (ranked 1218 p4p, 146 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Barnabas Ungar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barnabas Ungar!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhod stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ungar.
Ungar fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rhod checks it well.
Barnabas Ungar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ungar swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rhod.
Rhod keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rhod throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ungar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ungar scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rhod in his tracks.
Ungar uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rhod has time to react.
Ungar chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rhod can pounce on him.

It looked like Rhod was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ungar.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ungar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rhod was covering up waiting for the punch and Ungar finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rhod holds on and takes a little breather.
Ungar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
