The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McMurray manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McMurray loads up on a big right hand but Lawson slips the punch.
McMurray tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lawson was well out of range. Poor timing from McMurray.
McMurray circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lawson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lawson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Connor McMurray has been cut.
Lawson ducks under a wild hook from McMurray.

McMurray throws a jab but it's blocked by Lawson.

enabling McMurray to counter with a crisp jab.

McMurray misses with a hook. Lawson ducked under it nicely.
McMurray swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lawson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McMurray clobbers Lawson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That kick from Lawson tenderised McMurray's leg. McMurray is trying to keep his angry face on.

Lawson tries to close the distance and clinch up but McMurray swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lawson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Lawson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
