And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio De Souza!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for De Souza with that takedown attempt.
De Souza shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
El Toro Jr cracks the inside of De Souza's front leg.

Ceaser El Toro Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rogerio De Souza.
El Toro Jr turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
El Toro Jr clobbers De Souza with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

El Toro Jr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
De Souza rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but El Toro Jr moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It looked like El Toro Jr was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from De Souza.

A momentary lapse in concentration from El Toro Jr enables De Souza to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. El Toro Jr manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
De Souza wants to pass the guard but El Toro Jr is keeping the position.

De Souza got a little sloppy there for a moment and El Toro Jr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, De Souza has managed to get both his arms back between El Toro Jr's legs - danger averted.

El Toro Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but De Souza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

El Toro Jr has his foot on De Souza's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. De Souza works his way back into a safe position though.
De Souza wants to control from the top but El Toro Jr keeps moving.
De Souza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. El Toro Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

De Souza avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

De Souza is sitting in close to El Toro Jr's body. El Toro Jr has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! De Souza is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, De Souza is tapping! That was a very nice submission by El Toro Jr.
