Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dumba Diame Jr (ranked 2437 p4p, 249 weight class) and Peter Smith (ranked 2638 p4p, 271 weight class). Diame Jr comes to the cage accompanied by Get It On The Floor. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diame Jr is defended easily by Smith.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Smith drives through and clinches with Diame Jr against the cage.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Diame Jr throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Smith! But no joy.
Diame Jr shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Diame Jr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Diame Jr tries to counter with a takedown but Smith is quick to defend against it.

Diame Jr darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Diame Jr is looking to stall here but Smith recovers full guard.

Diame Jr will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith is controlling Diame Jr's trapped leg to prevent Diame Jr from advancing to side control.
Smith is refusing to be controlled, as Diame Jr sits in half guard.
Diame Jr wants to pass the guard but Smith is defending well.

Diame Jr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Diame Jr stalling away here and it's allowed Smith to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.

Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Diame Jr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Diame Jr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diame Jr isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Smith stacks Diame Jr on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Smith!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Diame Jr shoots and misses
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith connects with a leg kick. Diame Jr looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diame Jr.
Smith throws out a powerful jab.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dumba Diame Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Diame Jr doesn't seem bothered though.

Smith closes the distance and pushes Diame Jr back into the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith lands with a shot to the body.
Diame Jr dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Diame Jr's head and hops out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diame Jr takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Smith blocks the body kick.
Horrible takedown attempt by Diame Jr or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad.
Peter Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Smith batters Diame Jr with a massive right followed by a huge left! Diame Jr is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Smith lands a final crushing right hand to drop Diame Jr to the mat with a gruesome thud! Smith is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
