Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Riot (ranked 2989 p4p, 54 weight class) and Renato Laranja (ranked 2230 p4p, 32 weight class). Renato Laranja told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Renato Laranja!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riot throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Laranja's waist but Laranja gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Riot off to one side.
Riot tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Laranja was well out of range. Poor timing from Riot.
Laranja clinches up with Riot and pushes him back against the cage.
Riot wants to take the fight to the mat but Laranja manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Laranja tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Laranja stalls.
Laranja has Riot pushed against the cage.
Riot tries to pull guard but Laranja forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Riot. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Laranja is trying to trip Riot. He has hold of a leg but Riot is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Laranja persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Riot looking for a guillotine here but Laranja defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riot looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Laranja puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Laranja in particular looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Riot is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Laranja has latched onto it... Big trouble! Laranja pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Riot is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Laranja!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Renato Laranja!

In his post fight interview, Renato Laranja started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
