Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Char Xiu (ranked 5846 p4p, 425 weight class) and Winston Cooper (ranked 2419 p4p, 243 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xiu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Winston Cooper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Xiu swats away the attempt to clinch by Cooper.

and Xiu counters with a single leg into guard. Cooper didn't expect that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper is trying to stand up here but Xiu is controlling him well.

Cooper is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Xiu scores with a couple of nice shots.
Xiu seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cooper is looking to improve his position.
Xiu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cooper with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Xiu is looking to advance position but Cooper won't allow it.
Xiu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
