PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marco Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zippi Duudi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruas comes to the cage accompanied by Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zippi Duudi!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas lands a jab to the nose.
Duudi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruas swivels and escapes.
Ruas lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Duudi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ruas.

Ruas lunges at Duudi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Duudi's hand.
Nice uppercut there from Ruas.

Ruas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ruas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ruas is working for a kimura but Duudi is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruas wants to work for an arm triangle but Duudi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ruas throws a strike but Duudi avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Ruas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Duudi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ruas has Duudi in his guard.
Ruas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ruas thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Ruas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Duudi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Ruas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Ruas moves into range and connects with a jab.

Ruas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Duudi sprawls well initially but Ruas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Duudi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ruas thows a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ruas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ruas advances position into side control!

Duudi wants to control but Ruas postures up.
Duudi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Ruas moves nicely into side control.

Ruas tries to score with some ground and pound. Duudi controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Ruas throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Ruas throws a strike aimed at the side of Duudi's head but Duudi avoids it well.
Ruas in side control, throwing shots but Duudi defends.
Duudi can't do much from the bottom here.
Duudi managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ruas.

Ruas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Duudi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ruas moves into the clinch.

Duudi drags the fight down to the ground.

Ruas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Duudi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ruas has Duudi in his guard.

Duudi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Duudi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Duudi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ruas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Duudi's head backwards.
Ruas displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Ruas connects with a nice looking jab.
Ruas is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Ruas is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Duudi is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ruas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Duudi to the mat. Duudi regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Duudi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Marco Ruas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Duudi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ruas has gone for a leg lock! Duudi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ruas's guard.

Ruas throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Duudi manages to pass to side control.
Ruas is not content to let Duudi control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ruas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duudi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Duudi wants to control the pace but Ruas is squirming around nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ruas manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Zippi Duudi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ruas is looking for a sweep. Duudi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Duudi trying to control the action but Ruas is working from the bottom.
Ruas tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marco Ruas showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Ruas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
