The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almeida slips under a jab from Christie.
Almeida keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Christie.
Almeida lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Almeida takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Almeida throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Christie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Almeida is in Christie's guard.
Almeida throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Christie works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Almeida drops back looking for a leg! Christie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Christie manages to kick Almeida off! Almeida jumps back into Christie's guard.
Almeida must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Christie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Almeida defends it easily.
Almeida trying to control the position from guard on top but Christie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Almeida thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Christie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Christie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Almeida defends well.

Christie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Almeida got a little sloppy there for a moment and Christie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Almeida has managed to get both his arms back between Christie's legs - danger averted.

Almeida decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Christie, up you get!
Christie looks to land a left hand but Almeida moved out of range nicely.
Almeida unleashes a big counter combination but Christie bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
William Christie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Almeida takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Christie is breathing heavily.
Christie misses with a straight left.

Christie lands a nice shot that snaps Almeida's head back.
Almeida dodges the punch combination from Christie.

Almeida feints and as Christie raises his hands in defense, Almeida changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Almeida is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Christie keeping moving, preventing Almeida from controlling successfully.
Almeida with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Christie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Almeida defends well.

Almeida is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Christie is forced to tap! Great finish!

Antonio Almeida tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
