PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Estrada (ranked 7324 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emelya Fedorov (ranked 7394 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Estrada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Emelya Fedorov!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fedorov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fedorov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Estrada is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Fedorov misses with the head strike.
The referee is keeping an eye on Estrada - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Estrada ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Estrada no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Estrada striking off his back but it's not causing Fedorov any problems.
Estrada is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Estrada tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fedorov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Estrada pulls Fedorov in close to prevent any damage.
Estrada continues to stall.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Estrada really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Estrada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fedorov sprawls well. Fedorov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Estrada gets slowly back to his feet.

Fedorov gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Estrada is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Fedorov can't fight it off and eventually Estrada manages to take the fight to the floor. Fedorov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fedorov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Estrada gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Estrada controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Fedorov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Estrada throws a big right hand that misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Estrada controlling from the top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Estrada will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fedorov looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Estrada moves into range and clinches up with Fedorov.

Estrada has hold of one of Fedorov's legs. Fedorov is fighting the takedown attempt but Estrada gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Estrada stays in close to Fedorov's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Estrada shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fedorov napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Fedorov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Sean Estrada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fedorov is breathing heavily.

Estrada misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Estrada sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Fedorov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Estrada slows the pace down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Estrada's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Estrada gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Estrada is working for takedown but Fedorov is calmly controlling the position for now.

Estrada has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fedorov avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Estrada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fedorov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Estrada changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fedorov fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Estrada rushes Fedorov and presses him up against the cage.

Fedorov trying to control the position from guard on top but Estrada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Estrada will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Estrada has his foot on Fedorov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fedorov works his way back into a safe position though.

Fedorov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Estrada is proving hard to escape from.

Estrada goes for a takedown attempt but Fedorov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Estrada decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fedorov's guard.

Estrada seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fedorov for as long as he can get away with.
Fedorov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Estrada lands a couple of digs.
Fedorov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Estrada controls the pace.
Fedorov is trying to keep Estrada in close.
Fedorov looking to control but Estrada passes into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
More hug and hope from Estrada.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Estrada has taken the fight to the clinch.

Estrada works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Estrada is standing up over Fedorov. Fedorov looks to escape but Estrada dives into side control.

Estrada misses with the ground and pound.
Estrada happy to just control the position for now.
Fedorov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Estrada wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Estrada is staying tight to Fedorov's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Estrada is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fedorov can do to turn this around?

Emelya Fedorov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sean Estrada is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Sean Estrada showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Estrada has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
