The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shevchenko lands a really nice looking cross but Valen seems unphased.

Valen drives through and clinches with Shevchenko against the cage.

Valen lands with a short shot to the head.
Shevchenko works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Shevchenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Valen closes the distance and clinches.
Shevchenko fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Shevchenko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Valen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shevchenko throws out the jab.

Shevchenko gets through Valen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Valen lands a nice uppercut.

Shevchenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Valen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shevchenko lands a leg kick that knocks Valen off balance momentarily.
Valen wants to clinch.
Shevchenko lands a nice leg kick that just misses Valen's sensitive parts.
Shevchenko keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Valen moves into the clinch successfully.

A frustrated look appears on Shevchenko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Valen lands a hook that snaps the head of Shevchenko backwards.

Shevchenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shevchenko feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Valen's calf.
Shevchenko throws the left hand but Valen avoids the punch easily.
Shevchenko throws a sloppy head kick and Valen moves out of range easily.
Valen went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Shevchenko tries to keep at a distance but Valen has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shevchenko misses with some punches.
Shevchenko lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Shevchenko manages to break the clinch.
Shevchenko throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Shevchenko throws a hook to the side of Valen's head but Valen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A left lands for Shevchenko.
Valen throws a nice looking combination but Shevchenko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Shevchenko jabs Valen right on the nose. Valen blinks but takes it well.

Valen is rocked!

Shevchenko lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Valen - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Shevchenko!
