PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rangi Nui (ranked 23355 p4p, 0 weight class) and Satchmo Knox (ranked 5520 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Knox's choice of entrance music: Riot | Three Days Grace. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Satchmo Knox!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nui pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nui avoids the body shot from Knox.
Knox throws an overhand right that lands on Nui's shoulder, as Nui tries to avoid the shot.
Knox lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nui staying out of range there.
Knox slips a jab and a cross from Nui.
Knox throws out a counter right but Nui avoids it with no problem.
Nui throws a hook to the side of Knox's head but Knox sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Knox misses with a looping right.
Knox has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nui finds it's way round the side to connect with Knox's head.
Knox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nui takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nui throws a right hand that Knox ducks under and follows up with a left that Knox also avoids with ease.

Knox lands a left hand that snaps the head of Nui backwards.

Knox works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Knox is standing up over Nui. Nui looks to escape but Knox dives into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nui might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Let's hope that Knox has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The adventures of Knox the control monster continue. Boring.
Knox's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Nui wants to hold on but Knox pushes him away.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Knox might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Knox feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nuis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Nui looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Knox has picked Nui up and slammed him! Nui can't keep hold of the triangle and Knox manages to pass to side control!

That was a close second round but I would say that Rangi Nui will probably get the nod.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rangi Nui.
I think Nui has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
