The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derwin throws a nice looking combination but Freshwater bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Freshwater attempts a counter takedown but Derwin avoids it well and moves away.
Derwin fails to land with a series of punches.
Derwin moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Freshwater is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Derwin.
Freshwater thows a left - swing and a miss!
Derwin throws a combination. Freshwater tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Freshwater takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Freshwater uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Derwin.
Freshwater drops down looking for a counter takedown but Derwin sprawls and moves away.
Derwin throws a hook but Freshwater blocks it.
Derwin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Freshwater.

Freshwater takes one on the button.
Derwin throws a series of punches but Freshwater avoids them all with ease.
Freshwater tries to counter with a takedown but Derwin is quick to defend against it.
Derwin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Derwin throws a hook to the side of Freshwater's head but Freshwater sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Derwin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Freshwater seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Derwin fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Derwin misses with a looping left.
Freshwater drops down looking for a counter takedown but Derwin sprawls and moves away.
Derwin lands a two punch combo.
Derwin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Freshwater tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Derwin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Freshwater fails to land the takedown.

Derwin misses the jab.
Derwin smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Freshwater shoots in looking for a takedown. Derwin tries to sprawl out of it but Freshwater keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Derwin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A countering left hand to the body from Derwin misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Freshwater. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Freshwater uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Derwin.

Freshwater changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Derwin tries to avoid it but Freshwater manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Derwin to the ground. Derwin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Derwin misses with a hook.
Robbie Derwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Freshwater shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Freshwater was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Derwin tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
