PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Sin (ranked 767 p4p, 109 weight class) and Mosi Kondo (ranked 600 p4p, 84 weight class). Mosi Kondo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lee Sin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mosi Kondo!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sin misses with a hook.
Kondo digs a good body shot into Sin's ribs.
Kondo throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

so Sin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kondo wants to stand up but Sin is controlling him.
Sin looking to pass the guard.
Sin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sin prevents Kondo from getting back to his feet.
Sin tries to free his leg and advance position but Kondo is retaining full guard.
Sin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Sin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kondo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sin looking to pass the guard.
Kondo wants to stand but Sin is controlling the position.

Sin scoring with some ground and pound.

Sin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kondo wants to stand up but Sin is controlling him.
Sin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kondo's head.
Sin prevents Kondo from getting back to his feet.
Sin lands a couple of digs.
Sin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Sin passes into half guard.
Kondo is looking to escape.

Kondo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Sin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kondo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sin.
Sin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kondo's head.
Kondo is staying active underneath Sin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kondo wants to get back to his feet.
Sin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Sin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Sin throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Kondo to regain full guard.
Sin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kondo wants to stand and escape but Sin is having none of it.
Kondo keeping moving, preventing Sin from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kondo. Kondo obviously looking to wear him down.
Kondo is looking to clinch but Sin is avoiding it.
Kondo catches Sin with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sin shoots in looking for a takedown but Kondo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kondo. Kondo obviously looking to wear him down.
Sin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Sin is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Sin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kondo fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sin checks it well.
Kondo jabs Sin right on the nose. Sin blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Lee Sin has been cut.
Kondo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Kondo lands a nice looking kick to the body. Sin takes a step back to recover.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kondo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Kondo swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kondo drops Sin with a beautiful combination! Sin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Kondo is looking for the KO!


Sin is rocked!
Sin gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Kondo gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Sin is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mosi Kondo!
An out of breath Mosi Kondo thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
