The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovaschic throws an off balance right hand

and Key counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Key scoring with some ground and pound.
Kovaschic is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kovaschic kicks Key off and gets to his feet.
Key fails with a takedown attempt.
Kovaschic throws a combination. Key tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kovaschic lands a lovely overhand right.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Key keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Key half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Key counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Key appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Key counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Key.

Kovaschic has clasped his hands together around Key's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Key gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Key is holding on to half guard well.
Key manages to get to full guard.
Kovaschic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Key shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kovaschic pinned against the cage. Kovaschic gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kovaschic lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Key.
A countering left hand to the body from Kovaschic misses.

It looks like Kenny Key has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good standup being displayed there by Kovaschic as he connects with a hook.
Kovaschic fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


Key is rocked!
Josh Kovaschic seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kovaschic connects with a right that clearly hurt Key. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Kovaschic proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Key collapses and taps out under the pressure!
