PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gennady Mikhasevich (ranked 922 p4p, 128 weight class) and Didier Misalooba (ranked 1080 p4p, 150 weight class). Misalooba is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Beyond the Black. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gennady Mikhasevich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Didier Misalooba!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikhasevich misses with a combination
and Misalooba counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mikhasevich is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Misalooba changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Mikhasevich looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mikhasevich throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Misalooba to counter with a crisp jab.
Misalooba tries to clinch but Mikhasevich moves out of range.
Misalooba lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Misalooba displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mikhasevich throws out the jab.
Misalooba looks to throw the jab but Mikhasevich is out of range.
Misalooba doesn't manage to clinch there - Mikhasevich circles away.
Misalooba throws a hook to the side of Mikhasevich's head but Mikhasevich sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Misalooba scores with a nice head shot.
Misalooba lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Misalooba has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Misalooba swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Misalooba lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Misalooba throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Misalooba tests Mikhasevich's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Misalooba looks to land a right hand but Mikhasevich moved out of range.
Mikhasevich scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Mikhasevich is looking to chop away at Misalooba's legs.
Mikhasevich misses with a straight right.
Misalooba lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Misalooba misses with a hook
and Mikhasevich counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Misalooba thinking.
Misalooba throws a lazy uppercut
and Mikhasevich counters with a nice leg kick.
Misalooba rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mikhasevich moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Misalooba moves out of range as Mikhasevich strikes.

Mikhasevich clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mikhasevich misses with the head strike.
Mikhasevich misses with some punches.
Mikhasevich working aggressively here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Misalooba is trying to force a seperation but Mikhasevich has the dominant position.
Mikhasevich is pushing Misalooba up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Mikhasevich tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Misalooba is trying to break the clinch but Mikhasevich is controlling him.
Nice body punch from Mikhasevich - that landed with a thud.
Mikhasevich tries to work over Misalooba's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Mikhasevich misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mikhasevich tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Misalooba smiles and moves away.
Misalooba lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mikhasevich moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mikhasevich sizes up Misalooba with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Misalooba throws a right and a left that Mikhasevich avoids nicely.
Mikhasevich throws an off balance right hand
enabling Misalooba to counter with a crisp jab.
Misalooba is looking to clinch.
Mikhasevich throwing a counter right hand but Misalooba manages to avoid it.
Misalooba might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Misalooba misses with an uppercut
and Mikhasevich counters with a three punch combo that has Misalooba backing up. Misalooba nods at Mikhasevich to acknowledge the strikes.

Misalooba takes the fight into the clinch.

Misalooba pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mikhasevich.


Misalooba is rocked!
Misalooba's corner calls for a 1-2. Misalooba obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Misalooba is still on wobbly legs! Can Mikhasevich finish him?
Mikhasevich with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Misalooba seems to have recovered his senses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big left from Misalooba misses.
Mikhasevich appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Misalooba takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Misalooba leaves his chin hanging out and Mikhasevich seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Misalooba crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
