PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maatia Supuaga (ranked 7403 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warwick Davis (ranked 6374 p4p, 0 weight class). Supuaga comes into the arena with Wanna Taki Taki blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Supuaga closes the distance and clinches.
Stalling in the clinch from Supuaga.
Supuaga stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
A left hand lands to the body for Davis.

Supuaga escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Davis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Supuaga gets a clinch.
Davis misses with a knee strike.
Davis tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Davis's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Supuaga lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Supuaga wants to work for an arm triangle but Davis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Supuaga winds up and cracks Davis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Supuaga sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Supuaga seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Davis for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Supuaga looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Davis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Supuaga will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Supuaga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Davis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Supuaga has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Supuaga landing strikes from the mount and Davis is in trouble!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Supuaga cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Supuaga lands a heavy elbow.

Davis is rocked!
Supuaga controlling the position easily from mount.
Davis is still in real trouble! Can Supuaga finish him?
Supuaga unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Davis wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Supuaga celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Maatia Supuaga really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Blue Moon logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
