Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnathan Casey (ranked 24346 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Wrinkle (ranked 5148 p4p, 0 weight class). Stephen Wrinkle will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnathan Casey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stephen Wrinkle!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Casey fails to land the takedown.
Casey shoots in for a takedown but Wrinkle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wrinkle unleashes a big counter combination but Casey bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Wrinkle instigates a clinch.

Wrinkle is trying to trip Casey. He has hold of a leg but Casey is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wrinkle persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Wrinkle throws a big elbow that misses.
Wrinkle tries to stand but Casey is controlling from the bottom.

Casey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wrinkle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wrinkle trying to stand up but can't free himself from Casey's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wrinkle's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Wrinkle working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wrinkle is looking to stand up but Casey won't let him.

Wrinkle distracts Casey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Casey trying to keep a closed guard but Wrinkle is proving a slippery customer.
Wrinkle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wrinkle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Wrinkle wants to get up but he can't break Casey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Casey is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wrinkle is controlling him.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Wrinkle is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Wrinkle shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Casey's guard.
Casey looking to control.
Wrinkle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Casey is proving hard to escape from.

Casey can't keep his opponent in guard - Wrinkle advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Wrinkle is taking a breather. Casey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Casey has hold of Wrinkle's hands but Wrinkle slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Wrinkle is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wrinkle seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wrinkle's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Let's hope that Wrinkle has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Casey wants to control but Wrinkle is keeping busy.
Casey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Wrinkle is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Casey looking for submissions off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Wrinkle dominated that round.
That's time! Casey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Wrinkle throws a nice looking combination but Casey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wrinkle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Casey controls Wrinkle momentarily but Wrinkle frees himself.

Casey is trying to control the position but Wrinkle postures up.
Wrinkle wants to stand but Casey has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Casey can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wrinkle controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Casey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wrinkle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Wrinkle pushes Casey up against the cage in a clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Wrinkle is trying to trip Casey. He has hold of a leg but Casey is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wrinkle persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Casey throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wrinkle escapes and throws Casey's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Wrinkle is working Casey over with some ground and pound from side control.
Casey is trying to escape the position but Wrinkle is controlling the position.
Wrinkle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Casey keeps working.
Wrinkle controls the position.
Casey tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wrinkle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Casey's face as Wrinkle controls the position.
Casey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wrinkle is putting a hurting on Casey here, landing some big shots from side control.
Casey tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wrinkle remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Stephen Wrinkle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Casey wants to improve his position but instead Wrinkle has moved into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wrinkle stalling.
Wrinkle looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Wrinkle is taking a breather. Casey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Wrinkle is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Casey is just riding it out for now. Wrinkle eventually gives up the hold.
Wrinkle seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Casey throws a shot from downtown. Wrinkle moves away and avoids it.
Casey looks to throw the jab but Wrinkle is out of range.

Wrinkle gets a double leg takedown into Casey's guard.
Wrinkle lands a couple of digs.
Wrinkle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Casey is keeping the position for now.

Wrinkle wants to stand up but Casey has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Wrinkle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wrinkle wants to stand but Casey has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wrinkle is looking for a kimura but Casey is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wrinkle to get the leverage.

Stephen Wrinkle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wrinkle has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
