Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Askren!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Welter Weight!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren slips under a jab.

and Askren counters with a nice double leg into side control. Weight won't be happy with that.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Askren cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Weight is rocked!

Askren tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Askren lands a big shot there that rocks Weight but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Askren postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Weight looks a forlorn figure.

Askren wants to control the pace but Weight is squirming around nicely.

Askren lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Weight is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Askren lets go of the hold and Weight can pop his arm back in it's socket.
