PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yaroslav Ivan (ranked 24655 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coli Addison (ranked 24393 p4p, 0 weight class). Addison has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The key to victory for Yaroslav Ivan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Addison shoots for a takedown but Ivan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Addison checks a leg kick.
Ivan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ivan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Addison pinned against the cage. Addison gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ivan has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ivan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ivan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Ivan dives in and grabs Addison's left leg, looking for a takedown. Addison pushes down on Ivan's head and hops out.

Addison gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Addison misses with a hook from the clinch.
Addison prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yaroslav Ivan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ivan tries to circle away but Addison has him pinned against the cage.

Ivan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Addison shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Addison showed some decent athleticism there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Addison seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Addison is looking to advance position but Ivan won't allow it.
Addison looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Addison lands with a punch from half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Well, if Addison is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ivan blocks a head kick by Addison.

Addison shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Addison was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Addison lands an elbow.
Addison is staying tight to Ivan's torso, preventing him from escaping.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Addison has eaten all the pies!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Coli Addison will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Addison fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ivan, right into the meat.
Ivan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
No luck for Addison with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Addison throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ivan's waist but Ivan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Addison off to one side.
Yaroslav Ivan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Coli Addison.
Ivan wants to slow Addison down by chopping away at his legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ivan circles away from the clinch attempt
and Ivan counters with a nice body shot.

Addison tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ivan defends well and Addison ends up having to push Ivan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ivan throws a big counter combination but Addison scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Ivan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Addison has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Addison tries for a takedown but Ivan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
As Addison tries to get set, Ivan tries to push him back and clinch up but Addison manages to avoid the attempt.
Ivan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Addison. That did some damage!

Addison closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Addison is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ivan has escaped the position, nice work there.

Addison has hold of Ivan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ivan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Addison cranks the arm and Ivan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ivan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
