PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Manoy Timmoy (ranked 6474 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Li (ranked 5828 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Timmoy clinches up against the cage.
Timmoy prevents a takedown attempt there.
Li tries to pull guard but Timmoy holds him up against the cage and eventually Li drops back down to his feet.

Li has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Timmoy uses from the top position.
Timmoy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Li pulls Timmoy in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Timmoy wants to control from the top but Li keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Li is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Li holds on and takes a little breather.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Timmoy stands up from Li's guard - Timmoy perhaps looking for a knockout.

Timmoy gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Li jumps guard but Timmoy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Timmoy thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Li loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Li passes easily into side control. Nice work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Li bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackie Li has got the better of the ground game so far.

Timmoy tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Li thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Li goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Timmoy has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Li but great work by Timmoy.
Li is looking for a sweep.
Li manages to work his way to half guard, despite Timmoy's best efforts.
Timmoy is trying to control. Li wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Li makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Li.
Li seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jackie Li showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Li is trying hard to land a takedown here. Timmoy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Timmoy was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Li looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Timmoy is fending him off so far but Li persists. Nope, Timmoy circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee is keeping an eye on Li - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Timmoy tries to throw a body punch but Li avoids it by throwing Timmoy back against the cage.

Li lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Timmoy backwards.
Timmoy wants to break the clinch but can't.
Li fails to pull guard.

A right hook to the body lands for Li.
Li fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Timmoy struggles to land a body shot inside as Li controls his hands.

Li pushes Timmoy up against the cage in a clinch.

Li ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Li no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
