Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gilmar Vidal (ranked 3915 p4p, 358 weight class) and Davi Araujo (ranked 24277 p4p, 463 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gilmar Vidal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Davi Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Vidal.
It looked like Vidal wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Vidal lands a right hook to the body.
A slow jab from Araujo misses its intended target.
Araujo throws a looping overhand right but Vidal ducks down to avoid it.
Araujo will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Araujo walks into a stiff left hand from Vidal.
Vidal slips under a jab.
Vidal has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Buoy Training in the buildup to the fight.
Araujo misses with a hook.
Araujo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vidal manages to avoid it.
Davi Araujo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vidal keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vidal connects with a single shot there.
Vidal scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Araujo doesn't seem bothered though.
Araujo tries a low kick but Vidal avoids it.
Araujo throws a shot from downtown. Vidal moves away and avoids it.
Vidal lands with a shot to the body.
Vidal uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Araujo.
A looping hook to the body misses from Vidal. Araujo does a little dance to reset his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Araujo throws a lazy uppercut
and Vidal counters with a stiff right hand.

Vidal avoids the body shot from Araujo.
Vidal thuds a left hand into Araujo's body.
Araujo misses with a hook. Vidal ducked under it nicely.
A telegraphed right hand from Araujo misses the target.
Araujo looks to score with a jab to the body but Vidal is just out of range.

Vidal cracks Araujo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Vidal is looking to wear down Araujo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Araujo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Vidal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Araujo.
Vidal moves out of range as Araujo strikes.
Vidal defending well as Araujo loads up on a big left hand.
Araujo scoring well with a low kick there.
Araujo misses the jab.
Vidal tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Vidal scores with a nice right hand.
Vidal throws a body shot but no joy.
A nice inside leg kick there by Araujo. That's going to slow Vidal down.
We've been informed that Araujo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Araujo throws an overhand right that lands on Vidal's shoulder, as Vidal tries to avoid the shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Araujo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Araujo looks to land a left hand but Vidal moved out of range nicely.
Vidal connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Araujo momentarily.

Araujo is rocked!
Araujo walks straight into a right hand from Vidal - that's dropped him! Vidal jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Araujo from any more punishment! Araujo complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Gilmar Vidal!
Gilmar Vidal decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
