PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Mancini (ranked 2595 p4p, 55 weight class) and Max Paddy (ranked 1976 p4p, 38 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Mancini!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Paddy!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paddy fails with the takedown.
Paddy tries to clinch
and Mancini counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Paddy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Ray Mancini seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paddy misses with a hook. Mancini ducked under it nicely.
Mancini stalks Paddy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Paddy's face. Paddy staggers backwards, shaken.

Paddy shoots in and bounces Mancini off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mancini looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Paddy passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paddy is trying to work for a kimura but Mancini is defending well.

Paddy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mancini really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mancini holds on and takes a little breather.

Mancini has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paddy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Oh Mancini is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mancini seems to have got his legs back now.

Paddy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mancini is just riding it out for now. Paddy eventually gives up the hold.

Paddy is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mancini!

Paddy wants to take his opponent's back but Mancini doesn't allow it.

Mancini has picked Paddy up - he's going for a ride! Mancini dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Mancini seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paddy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


No luck for Paddy with that takedown attempt.
Paddy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mancini connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Paddy scrambles back to his feet.
Paddy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Mancini connects with a body shot.
Paddy shoots and misses
and Mancini counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Paddy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mancini is working Paddy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Mancini slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Paddy looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mancini has picked Paddy up and slammed him! Paddy can't keep hold of the triangle and Mancini manages to pass to side control!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Paddy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mancini's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mancini's back!

Well Mancini has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Ray Mancini misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
