Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 36 - 3, fighting out of Hilo, John Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ahmad Lazzez!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lazzez with a poor takedown
and Brown counters with a right hand to the body.
Brown circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brown is looking to counter the offense by Lazzez and move into the clinch.
Lazzez throws a poor cross that misses
letting Brown counter with a right hand.
Brown avoids the head kick by Lazzez.
Brown lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Brown.
Lazzez with a poor takedown
and Brown counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lazzez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brown swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brown closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Brown bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brown has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Lazzez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Brown cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brown raining down shots from the mount!
Lazzez is looking to improve his position but Brown isn't that keen on the idea.
Brown lands a big shot there that rocks Lazzez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Brown postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lazzez looks a forlorn figure.
We've been hearing that Brown has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Brown with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Brown lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Brown avoids the attempt from Lazzez to control.
Brown fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lazzez is bucking up trying to escape but Brown cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Brown lands a big elbow - Lazzez is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Lazzez is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). John Brown!
