The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmonds swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Page.
Page shoots in and drives through. Simmonds sprawls well.
Simmonds swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Page drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Simmonds explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Simmonds misses with a looping left.
Page tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Simmonds swivels and escapes.
Page misses with a takedown attempt - Simmonds sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luis Page. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Simmonds fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Page is looking to counter punch.

Page tries to keep at a distance but Simmonds has taken the fight into the clinch.
Page keeps control of Simmonds as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Page is trying to drag Simmonds to the mat but Simmonds just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Page is working for takedown but Simmonds is calmly controlling the position for now.

Page has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Simmonds after a bit of a struggle.
Page has Simmonds pressed against the cage, preventing Simmonds from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Page drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Simmonds gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Simmonds goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Page tightens his grip and picks Simmonds up, before dumping him to the ground. Simmonds manages to land in guard.
Simmonds is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Simmonds can do anything to dispel that myth.

Simmonds wants to get back to his feet but Page is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Simmonds wriggles free and stands up.

Page walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Luis Page seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Page takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Page shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Page was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Simmonds is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Page asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Page postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Simmonds tries to escape but Page is in control.
Page creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Simmonds sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Simmonds pushes Page away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Page gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Simmonds managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Page.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Page tries to score with some ground and pound. Simmonds controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Page will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Simmonds is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Page is controlling him well.

Page scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Simmonds is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Page can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
