PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kile Jr Vi (ranked 5368 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Mendonza (ranked 5296 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kile Jr Vi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jorge Mendonza!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr Vi stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendonza. Mendonza gets slowly back to his feet.
Jr Vi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mendonza.
Mendonza shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jr Vi pinned against the cage. Jr Vi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kile Jr Vi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Mendonza.

Jr Vi gets caught napping as Mendonza dives in and scores a takedown. Jr Vi manages to retain guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jr Vi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendonza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mendonza controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Jr Vi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendonza doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendonza manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jr Vi is looking for a triangle but Mendonza pushes his legs off easily.
Mendonza slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jr Vi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mendonza avoids it really well and circles away.
Mendonza changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mendonza tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jr Vi swivels and escapes.
Mendonza shoots in but no luck this time.
Jr Vi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mendonza circles away.
Mendonza goes for a double leg but Jr Vi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jr Vi continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kile Jr Vi will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jr Vi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mendonza napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jr Vi is really struggling to control Mendonza but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jr Vi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jr Vi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mendonza defends it well.
