PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Fagan (ranked 1733 p4p, 192 weight class) and Screw Ewe (ranked 1168 p4p, 131 weight class). Screw Ewe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Paddy Fagan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Screw Ewe!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ewe tries to clinch up.
Fagan throws a head kick that misses
and Ewe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fagan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ewe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ewe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fagan is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fagan has one of Ewe's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Ewe wants to stand but Fagan has his arm trapped.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fagan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fagan wants to control but Ewe postures up.
Fagan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ewe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Ewe is looking to take a break and control but Fagan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ewe closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fagan's guard.
Ewe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fagan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ewe wants to pass the guard but Fagan is keeping the position.
Ewe is looking to work some ground and pound but Fagan has wrist control.

Fagan is looking to cinch up a triangle. Ewe throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Fagan's body to avoid the submission. Fagan has instead reached around Ewe's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Fagan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
