The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ZeMen tries to clinch up but Sanford circles away and keeps his distance.
ZeMen shoots in for a double leg but Sanford sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

ZeMen darts in and clinches Sanford up against the cage.
ZeMen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sanford walks away with a smile on his face. ZeMen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Sanford wants to clinch.

ZeMen lands a big head kick that sends Sanford tumbling to the mat! ZeMen takes a step backwards and waves Sanford back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Freeman Sanford has been cut.
Sanford slaps away a takedown attempt from ZeMen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Freeman Sanford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark ZeMen.

Sanford has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sanford pulls guard effortlessly.

Sanford escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. ZeMen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
ZeMen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
ZeMen wants to pass the guard but Sanford is keeping the position.

Sanford wriggles free and stands up.
ZeMen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sanford's waist but Sanford gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing ZeMen off to one side.
As ZeMen tries to get set, Sanford tries to push him back and clinch up but ZeMen manages to avoid the attempt.

Sanford drives through and clinches with ZeMen against the cage.
ZeMen can't break the clinch.

ZeMen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
ZeMen looks winded!
ZeMen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sanford avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

ZeMen shoots in and drives through. Sanford sprawls well.
Sanford lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but ZeMen circles away quickly and effectively.
ZeMen tries to clinch up
and Sanford counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

ZeMen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sanford throws a series of punches but ZeMen avoids them all with ease.
ZeMen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Sanford counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sanford lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but ZeMen circles away quickly and effectively.

Sanford pushes ZeMen up against the cage in a clinch.

Sanford manages to pull guard.
Sanford will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sanford is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! ZeMen has his hands clasped together but Sanford extends and breaks ZeMen's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Sanford.
