Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aldo Nash (ranked 5042 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Rustamov (ranked 5010 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aldo Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alan Rustamov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rustamov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nash is trying to defend but Rustamov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rustamov stalling.
Nash wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rustamov is trying to control the action in half guard but Nash is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Nash desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Ground and pound from Rustamov.
Nash keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rustamov wants to take a breather but Nash is having none of it.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rustamov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nash wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rustamov gets a takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rustamov connects with a nice short shot to Nash's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rustamov wants to control but Nash is keeping him busy.

Rustamov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rustamov is thwarting Nash's attempts to control the position.
Nash keeps control of the position for the meantime.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nash is trying to maintain the position but Rustamov is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rustamov tries to work over Nash's front leg with a kick but Nash checks it.

Rustamov moves into the clinch.

Nash has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rustamov uses from the top position.
Rustamov looking to sit in guard and control but Nash gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's time! Nash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Rustamov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Rustamov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nash walks away with a smile on his face. Rustamov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rustamov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Rustamov rushes Nash and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rustamov tries to pull guard but Nash forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Nash manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Nash is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rustamov is looking to stand up but Nash won't let him.

Nash will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rustamov trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Nash manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Rustamov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nash slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Nash distracts Rustamov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rustamov can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rustamov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nash defends well.
Rustamov is controlling Nash's posture.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rustamov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Nash counters with a left and a right that stings Rustamov.
Aldo Nash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Rustamov.

Rustamov shoots in but Nash avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rustamov is breathing heavily.

Nash gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Nash scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Rustamov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nash's waist but Nash gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rustamov off to one side.

Nash looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rustamov wants to improve his position but Nash is controlling well.
Nash seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Rustamov darts in looking for a takedown but Nash gets double underhooks and turns Rustamov into the cage.

Nash closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Nash is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Rustamov manages to get back to half guard.
Nash really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nash takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Nash drops an elbow to the side of Rustamov's head.
Nash takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rustamov wants to control but Nash is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rustamov is defended easily by Nash.
Rustamov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nash.

Rustamov moves into the clinch.
Nash pushes Rustamov back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Nash jumps guard.
Nash pulls Rustamov in close to prevent any damage.
Rustamov prevents Nash from getting back to his feet.
Rustamov wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.
Nash lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Nash seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Nash is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rustamov can do to turn this around?

Nash keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rustamov's head.
