Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Hogan (ranked 4416 p4p, 348 weight class) and Joe Smith (ranked 2996 p4p, 284 weight class). Hogan comes to the cage accompanied by In The End - Linkin Park. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Smith!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Smith scores with a jab. Hogan acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


It looks like John Hogan has been cut.
A nice combination there by Smith.
Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Smith sizes up Hogan with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Smith goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hogan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A shot to the liver by Smith. Beautiful body shot.
Smith misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Smith shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hogan eats them both and turns towards Smith to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Smith!
Smith throws a chopping leg kick but Hogan manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
Hogan shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Hogan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.
Smith swinging wildly here.
Smith has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hogan is landing a low percentage of strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith lands with a straight right. Hogan didn't see that one coming.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nice body punch from Smith.
Hogan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hogan ducks right into an uppercut from Smith.
A left and a right from Smith both land. Nice combination.
Smith scores with a nice head shot.


Hogan is rocked!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hogan avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Smith dominated that round.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hogan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
Hogan seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Hogan ducks right into an uppercut from Smith.
Smith fails to land with a series of punches.
A left and a right from Smith both land. Nice combination.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
It looked like Hogan was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogan gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Smith lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith lands a really nice looking cross but Hogan seems unphased.
Oh Hogan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith lands with a good body shot.
Hogan seems to have got his legs back now.
Joe Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Smith looks to land a combination but Hogan avoids it well.
Hogan feinted with a counter takedown.
Hogan has been working on his balance at MMA Dojo, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Smith.
Smith paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Smith throws a right hand that Hogan ducks under and follows up with a left that Hogan also avoids with ease.
John Hogan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith lands an overhand right.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Smith lands with a nice combination. Hogan backs away looking to recover.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Hogan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith connects with a body shot.

Smith scores with a shot to the body.

Hogan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smith connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Hogan shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hogan looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hogan seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Smith cracks a nice hook into Hogan's ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Smith throws a leg kick that misses.
Hogan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nice uppercut lands for Smith. That snapped Hogan's head back.
Smith stalks Hogan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hogan's face. Hogan staggers backwards, shaken.
Donk. Smith catches Hogan right on the button with a cross.


John Hogan's cut is getting worse.
Smith cracks a nice hook into Hogan's ribs.
Some wild striking there from Smith.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Smith lands a nice looking body shot.
Smith fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hogan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hogan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hogan there as he acknowledges the shot.

Oooooh!!! Smith has knocked Hogan down with a huge combo! Smith steps away and waves a wobbly Hogan back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Smith wobbles Hogan with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Smith dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Hogan to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Joe Smith!
A victorious Joe Smith thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
In defeat, John Hogan stepped up to the mic, saying 'I thought I could defend his takedowns and strikes and I was wrong. But I will be back.'.
