Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Byrd (ranked 24794 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Scott (ranked 5868 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Scott looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tomas Byrd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Scott!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Hemmingworth and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Byrd, pushing him back against the cage.
Byrd lands with a right to the head.

Scott breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Scott shoots in but no luck this time.
Byrd looks for a takedown but Scott sprawls well.
Scott wants to counter with a clinch but Byrd pushes him away.
Scott misses with a takedown attempt
and Byrd counters with a nice uppercut.
Scott looks winded!
Byrd throws a nice head kick!


It looks like Peter Scott has been cut.

Scott gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Scott tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tomas Byrd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Scott.

Byrd breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Scott takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Scott jumps guard but Byrd stands there with Scott around his waist. Scott gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Scott has had enough of the clinch but Byrd keeps him there for the moment.
Byrd stops a takedown attempt from Scott.
Scott looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Byrd decides to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Byrd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Byrd is trying to control the position but Scott postures up.
Byrd bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Scott's guard.


Byrd gets to his feet. Scott looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Scott moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Byrd changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Scott tries to avoid it but Byrd manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Scott to the ground. Scott escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Byrd shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Byrd was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Byrd looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Byrd in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Scott trying his best to control but Byrd has mounted him.

Byrd is working for a guillotine from mount but Scott frees his head quite easily.

Byrd is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Byrd moves into the clinch.
Byrd is trying to drag Scott to the mat but Scott just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Byrd pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Byrd is trying hard to land a takedown here. Scott sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Byrd closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Byrd lands in his opponent's guard.
Byrd is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Byrd has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Byrd shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Scott but Scott pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Scott let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Scott jabs at Byrd's body.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Byrd is trying hard to land a takedown here. Scott sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Byrd tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Scott defends well and Byrd ends up having to push Scott into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Scott is trying to force a seperation but Byrd has the dominant position.
Byrd keeps control of Scott as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Byrd is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Scott can't fight it off and eventually Byrd manages to take the fight to the floor. Scott looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Byrd stands up from Scott's guard - Byrd perhaps looking for a knockout.
Byrd shoots in for a takedown but Scott shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Byrd manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Scott on his heels. He'll look to pass Scott's guard now, I'm sure.

Byrd postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Byrd decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Byrd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scott can do to turn this around?

Scott gets tackled into the cage by Byrd. Byrd maintains the clinch.
Byrd is trying to break the clinch but Scott has him pressed against the cage.
Byrd has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Scott is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Byrd tries to pull guard but Scott won't allow it.
Scott tries to score a body lock takedown but Byrd shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Byrd has Scott pressed against the cage, preventing Scott from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Byrd manages to break the clinch.
Byrd fails with the takedown.

Scott closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ground and pound from Scott.

Byrd tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scott swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Byrd is working for a kimura but Scott is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Scott takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Byrd is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Scott sees it coming and defends easily.

Byrd is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Scott is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Byrd is looking for a kimura but Scott is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Byrd to get the leverage.

Byrd stands up and waves to Scott to follow him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Byrd looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Byrd shoots in and drives through. Scott sprawls well.

Scott gets the takedown into side control.
Byrd is looking for a sweep.
Scott landing strikes.
Scott lands a decent elbow from side control.
Byrd struggling a bit here.
Scott takes a little break here. Byrd wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

You can see the frustration on Byrd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Byrd is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Scott has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Scott in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Byrd struggling a bit here.
Byrd is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Scott is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Byrd takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Byrd tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Scott easily slips into full mount!
Scott tries to control but Byrd wriggling away.
Scott might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Byrd haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Byrd tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away.
Peter Scott has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Byrd holds on for dear life, controlling Scott's posture momentarily.
Byrd is wriggling around trying to escape.

Peter Scott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Byrd has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
