PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chance Farley (ranked 5456 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yasunobu Kashiwabara (ranked 4592 p4p, 0 weight class). Yasunobu Kashiwabara will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chance Farley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yasunobu Kashiwabara!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Farley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kashiwabara to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kashiwabara throws an elbow that misses. Farley uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kashiwabara's guard. Nice move by Farley!

Farley throwing strikes but missing.
Kashiwabara looking to hit a scissor sweep but Farley is one step ahead there.
Kashiwabara utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Farley connects with a couple of short punches.
Kashiwabara looking to hit a scissor sweep but Farley is one step ahead there.

Farley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Farley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kashiwabara trying to keep a closed guard but Farley is proving a slippery customer.

Kashiwabara has an active guard here but Farley has managed to pass into half guard.

Kashiwabara is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Farley is trying to control the action in half guard but Kashiwabara is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kashiwabara gets control of Farley's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kashiwabara will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kashiwabara throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Farley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kashiwabara is in Farley's guard.

Farley has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Kashiwabara is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chance Farley dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Kashiwabara closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Farley's guard.
Farley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kashiwabara trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Farley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kashiwabara throws a strike but Farley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Kashiwabara is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Farley defends well.
Chance Farley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Farley pushes Kashiwabara off looking to stand but Kashiwabara dives back in and keeps control.
Kashiwabara is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kashiwabara accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kashiwabara gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Farley gets caught napping as Kashiwabara dives in and scores a takedown. Farley manages to retain guard.
Kashiwabara would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Yasunobu Kashiwabara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Kashiwabara closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Farley wants to get back to his feet.
Farley regains half guard, as Kashiwabara was trying to land strikes.
Kashiwabara working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


Farley is rocked!
Kashiwabara lands a big elbow - Farley is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Kashiwabara!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yasunobu Kashiwabara!
