Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyman Barrett (ranked 24658 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Kingston (ranked 4990 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lyman Barrett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rey Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barrett shoots in looking for a takedown. Kingston tries to sprawl out of it but Barrett keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kingston manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kingston misses with a low kick as Barrett jumps back.

Kingston throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barrett was covering up waiting for the punch and Kingston finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Barrett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kingston is one step ahead there.

Barrett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kingston's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kingston trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Barrett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kingston seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Barrett holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kingston throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barrett's waist but Barrett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kingston off to one side.

Barrett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kingston wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kingston wants to take a breather but Barrett manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kingston.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kingston dodges the punch combination from Barrett.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Barrett lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kingston circles away quickly and effectively.
Kingston has a takedown stuffed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kingston lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Kingston has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kingston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

No luck for Barrett with that takedown attempt.

Kingston drives through with a takedown into Barrett's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kingston is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Kingston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Barrett is looking to stand up but Kingston isn't so interested in that idea.
Barrett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kingston makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kingston.
Kingston seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Kingston lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Barrett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Barrett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barrett will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kingston stays in close to Barrett's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kingston stands up out of the half guard.
Barrett looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kingston changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barrett tries to avoid it but Kingston manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barrett to the ground. Barrett escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Barrett throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kingston shoots in and drives through. Barrett sprawls well.
Lyman Barrett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rey Kingston.
Barrett leaves Kingston with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Barrett attempts a counter takedown but Kingston avoids it well and moves away.

Barrett drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kingston sprawls and moves away.
Barrett moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Barrett shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kingston napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Kingston is trying to control Barrett's posture but Barrett avoids it.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Kingston isn't going anywhere.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Horrible takedown attempt by Barrett or perhaps it was just good defense by Kingston, which made it look bad.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lyman Barrett.
I think Barrett has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
