PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Runny Hitter (ranked 4949 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Allen (ranked 6572 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Allen will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Runny Hitter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Allen!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen tries to clinch up.
Hitter drops down looking for a counter takedown but Allen sprawls and moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Allen.

Hitter scores with a takedown into Allen's guard.
Allen wants to get back to his feet but Hitter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hitter gets to his feet - Allen follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hitter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Allen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hitter is in Allen's guard.
Hitter working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Hitter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hitter is working Allen over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hitter tries to free his leg and advance position but Allen is retaining full guard.
Hitter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hitter drops back looking for a leg! Allen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Allen manages to kick Hitter off! Hitter jumps back into Allen's guard.
Hitter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Allen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Allen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hitter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hitter gets to his feet. Allen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Allen is looking to clinch.
Allen lands with a nice body kick.

Allen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hitter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hitter lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hitter is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hitter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen can't keep his opponent in guard - Hitter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hitter perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Allen is trying to get back to full guard.
Hitter keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hitter seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Allen for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hitter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Allen is trying to escape back to his feet but Hitter uses the scramble to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Runny Hitter dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Allen throws a combination that misses

and Hitter counters with a crisp one two that drops Allen! Hitter thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Allen to his feet! Allen is in big trouble!


Allen is still looking wobbly from the end of the last round!
Hitter tries to clinch up but Allen circles away and keeps his distance.
Allen is still on wobbly legs! Can Hitter finish him?
Allen with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hitter counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hitter.

Hitter pulls guard effortlessly.
Hitter pulls Allen in to control the position.
Hitter throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

Allen has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hitter to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Allen is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hitter pulls down on the head and he's put Allen to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Runny Hitter!
