The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalevitz avoids the head kick by Ricket.
Kowalevitz feinted with a counter takedown.
Ricket misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kowalevitz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ricket defends well and Kowalevitz ends up having to push Ricket into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kowalevitz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ricket avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kowalevitz has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ricket after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Kowalevitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ricket prevents the takedown attempt.

Ricket escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kowalevitz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ricket sprawls well initially but Kowalevitz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
