Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Burke (ranked 24849 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gonali Raastupe (ranked 24823 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonali Raastupe has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Francesco Burke's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Francesco Burke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gonali Raastupe!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Raastupe drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Burke is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Burke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burke has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Burke shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Burke was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Raastupe wants to control but Burke is keeping him busy.
Burke lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Raastupe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Burke stands and steps away. Raastupe gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Burke feints and as Raastupe raises his hands in defense, Burke changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

A frustrated look appears on Burke's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Raastupe tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Burke avoids it.

Raastupe is fighting off a takedown attempt but Burke is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Raastupe to the mat. Raastupe regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Raastupe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Burke throws a big elbow that misses.
Burke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Raastupe avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Burke stands up and waves to Raastupe to follow him.

Burke tries to bench press Raastupe off him but Raastupe keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Francesco Burke will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Burke misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Raastupe rushes Burke and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Burke drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Raastupe gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Burke is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Raastupe can't fight it off and eventually Burke manages to take the fight to the floor. Raastupe looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Raastupe is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Burke presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Gonali Raastupe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Burke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Raastupe is throwing strikes but Burke counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Burke regains half guard.

Burke is trying to keep Raastupe in close.
Burke manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Raastupe manages to get himself to full guard.

Burke working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Raastupe's head.

Raastupe throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Raastupe looking to control but Burke passes into half guard.
Burke prevents Raastupe from improving his position.
Burke tries to stand but can't do so whilst Raastupe controls his leg.

Raastupe wants to get back to full guard but Burke has mounted him!

A close second round but Gonali Raastupe will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Raastupe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Raastupe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Burke wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Burke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Burke has got one arm under Raastupe's chin. This could be trouble... Raastupe trying to control the other hand but Burke gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Raastupe has tapped out! The fight is over!
