The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldonado keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Whishermann has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Maldonado finds it's way round the side to connect with Whishermann's head.
Maldonado scores with a spinning back kick!
Whishermann shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Maldonado pinned against the cage. Maldonado gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Whishermann shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maldonado defends it nicely.
Ralphie Maldonado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
