PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dwayne King (ranked 1393 p4p, 154 weight class) and Bakkes Ackerman (ranked 3026 p4p, 295 weight class). Ackerman has chosen Da' Vat Hy! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwayne King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Bakkes Ackerman!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ackerman staying out of range there.
Ackerman avoids the body shot from King.
King misses the shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from King as Ackerman shoots in.
Ackerman moves out of range of the body kick.

Ackerman gets a clinch.
King lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Ackerman has King pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. King manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
King lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ackerman has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
King gets through Ackerman's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Ackerman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. King smiles and moves away.
Dwayne King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bakkes Ackerman.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

King drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ackerman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now King has Ackerman in his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ackerman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ackerman stands up over King, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Ackerman shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ackerman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Ackerman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks King with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
