PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Christian Cyborg (ranked 2427 p4p, 238 weight class) and Wayne Williams (ranked 831 p4p, 101 weight class). Christian Cyborg had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cyborg looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Cyborg connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nice cross by Williams.
Williams swinging wildly here.
Cyborg shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Williams throws a body shot but no joy.
Williams throws a body punch but Cyborg moves out of range.
Cyborg shoots in for a double leg but Williams sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Williams connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Williams tries to bum rush Cyborg with a series of wild strikes but Cyborg uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cyborg uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Williams.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cyborg scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A jab from Cyborg finds it's way through Williams's defenses.
Williams has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Cyborg takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Williams throws a series of punches but Cyborg moves out of range.

Cyborg takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Williams throws a right hand that Cyborg ducks under and follows up with a left that Cyborg also avoids with ease.
Sloppy strikes from Williams. Those never looked like landing.
Williams misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cyborg works Williams's body with a nice hook.
Williams clobbers Cyborg with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Cyborg lands with a nice body punch.
Williams connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Williams is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cyborg had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Cyborg counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Williams will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cyborg stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Williams takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Cyborg is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Williams lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Cyborg has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Williams finds it's way round the side to connect with Cyborg's head.
Cyborg misses with a left hand
and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Williams throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cyborg on the side of the head.

Cyborg is rocked!
Williams lands a glancing blow to the side of Cyborg's head.
Oh Cyborg is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Williams lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Cyborg up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Williams from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Cyborg's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
