PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Xora Lutar (ranked 4718 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Hinch (ranked 7610 p4p, 0 weight class). Hinch has chosen Cult of personality-Living Colour as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xora Lutar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, AJ Hinch!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hinch avoids a wild elbow strike from Lutar.
Lutar is stalling here.
Lutar pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Hinch is working for takedown but Lutar is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hinch is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lutar is defending well.
Hinch can't get the takedown.
Xora Lutar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AJ Hinch.
Hinch is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lutar gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hinch is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lutar pulls him back up using the underhooks.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lutar is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hinch asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Lutar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hinch on the ground.

My spies in Official UFC Performance Institute Training Center inform me that Hinch has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lutar tries to escape but Hinch is in control.
Oh Lutar is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hinch is looking to take a break and control but Lutar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lutar wants to control but Hinch postures up.
Lutar takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Hinch landing a few strikes.
Hinch trying to control the position but Lutar is working away.
Hinch in side control lands a decent elbow.
Lutar holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Hinch in side control, throwing shots but Lutar defends.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hinch creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Hinch sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Lutar is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Hinch scores with a couple of short elbows.
Lutar is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hinch off and has taken his back!
I really don't envy Hinch right now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lutar not allowing Hinch to control his hands.
Lutar is trying to stick to Hinch's back but Hinch is turning into Lutar. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lutar's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Hinch dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lutar is looking to land body kicks.

and Hinch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lutar fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hinch tries a head kick but it misses.

Hinch lands a head kick that stumbles Lutar and the fighters go to the mat.


It looks like Xora Lutar has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hinch passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hinch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lutar keeps working.
Hinch is chipping away with strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hinch crunches a massive hammerfist down on Lutar - he's out! Hinch Holds back on further strikes and jumps to his feet to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). AJ Hinch!
Post fight, an emotional AJ Hinch said 'I don't need this shit, i come from a wealthy family and i have a Stanford degree, I do it becuase i love crushing peoples face in with my brutality.'.
