PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Holden Gracie (ranked 4933 p4p, 69 weight class) and Rickson Silva (ranked 4932 p4p, 68 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva.
Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gracie looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Gracie avoids a kick to the body.

Silva throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Silva is in Gracie's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva is looking to work some ground and pound but Gracie has wrist control.
Silva sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Silva's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Silva preventing the sweep.
Silva controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Silva is working Gracie over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Silva throws a big elbow that misses.
Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva content to stall in guard here.
Silva wants to stand but Gracie is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Silva walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gracie checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Silva manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gracie on his heels. He'll look to pass Gracie's guard now, I'm sure.
Gracie is trying to keep Silva in close.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Silva stands and steps away. Gracie gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Silva is looking to clinch.
Silva takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Silva drives through with a takedown into Gracie's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Gracie trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Silva passes Gracie's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Silva slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie punching from the bottom.
Gracie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Gracie has left one of his arms exposed and Silva doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Gracie screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
