PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lakoj Dresden (ranked 2108 p4p, 262 weight class) and Zsiga Venczel (ranked 3040 p4p, 354 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lakoj Dresden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zsiga Venczel!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dresden tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Venczel counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Dresden takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Dresden takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Venczel doesn't manage to clinch there - Dresden circles away.

Dresden shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Venczel pinned against the cage. Venczel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dresden darts in looking for a takedown but Venczel gets double underhooks and turns Dresden into the cage.

Dresden shoots in looking for a takedown. Venczel tries to sprawl out of it but Dresden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Venczel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lakoj Dresden. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dresden is trying to pull guard but Venczel turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Dresden wants the takedown. Venczel is fighting it off but Dresden persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Venczel's guard against the cage.
Venczel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Venczel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Venczel is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

We've been hearing good reports from Dresden's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Dresden seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Venczel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Venczel lands a nice hook to Dresden's body. Dresden takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lakoj Dresden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Venczel is in a horrible position here. Dresden smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

It looks like Zsiga Venczel has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dresden lands a big shot there that rocks Venczel but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Venczel is still in real trouble! Can Dresden finish him?

Dresden lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Venczel! Dresden sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Venczel and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Lakoj Dresden!
Lakoj Dresden really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sin City Allstars logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
