Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Britt Marsh (ranked 24960 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Granite (ranked 5211 p4p, 0 weight class). Britt Marsh has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Britt Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Red Granite!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Granite shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Marsh manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Marsh trying to keep a closed guard but Granite is proving a slippery customer.
Granite has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marsh is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marsh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Granite controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Granite trying to control from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Granite wants to improve his position but Marsh is controlling well.

Granite is trying to control but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Granite can do anything to dispel that myth.
Granite is trying to get back to full guard.

Granite looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Granite flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Marsh is working for a kimura but Granite is defending it quite comfortably.
Marsh is trying to control. Granite wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Granite has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marsh is working away from the top position though.
Granite gets full guard.
Marsh really is a fat lump.
Granite manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Marsh manages to get himself to full guard.

Granite postures up.
Granite content to stall in guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Granite wants to stand but Marsh is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Marsh controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Granite instigates a clinch.

Granite escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marsh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Granite as he jumps to the side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Granite drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Granite distracts Marsh with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Granite wants to stand but Marsh has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Marsh not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Granite looking to pass the guard.
Granite stays in close to Marsh's body and controls the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Granite looking to pass the guard.
Marsh will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Red Granite dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Marsh enables Granite to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Marsh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Granite scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Marsh looking for a guillotine here but Granite defends easily.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Granite. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Granite wants to pass the guard but Marsh is keeping the position.

Granite thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Granite slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Marsh trying to keep a closed guard but Granite is proving a slippery customer.
Granite is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Granite forces his way into half guard.
Marsh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marsh trying to hold on to Granite's head to control him but Granite postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Granite passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Marsh!
Granite takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Marsh can't escape the position.
Granite controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Granite prevents Marsh from getting the reversal.
The referee warns Marsh that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


It looks like Britt Marsh has been cut.
Marsh is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Marsh tries to hold on but Granite pushes him away.
Granite has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Granite controlling from mount.
Granite lands with some strikes.


Marsh is rocked!


Britt Marsh's cut is getting worse.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Britt Marsh's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Red Granite!
